XV Photography Contest of Cutlery 2015

Other interesting regular activities offered by the Municipal Museum of Cutlery of Albacete (Spain), is the announcement of the XV Photography Contest of Cutlery 2015.

The deadline for submission of pictures begins on September 22nd, 2015 and ending on October 25th of that year.

The photographs are submitted at the Museum of Cutlery of Albacete in the morning (Tuesday to Sunday from 10-14 hours) and afternoon (Tuesday to Saturday from 17: 30- 20 hours), or sent to the Municipal Museum of Cutlery of Albacete, Plaza de la Catedral s/n, 02001 Albacete, by post.

All are invited to participate in, accepting pictures produced by collectives, although count individually.

The issue, obviously, is the Cutlery in all its aspects, that is to say, about the image, manufacture or use of knives, pocket knives, daggers, scissors, crafts, and so on.

The jury´s decision is announced the second week of November of 2015.

XXXV Cutlery Contest of Castilla La Mancha at Albacete 2015

One year more, we are going to enjoy of XXXV Cutlery Contest of Castilla La Mancha, which is holding, from 8th to 17th September, in our city of Albacete, matching with our wonderful Albacete Festival, from 7th to 17th September.

Everybody can visit, of course free of charge, the hall prepared for that in the fairground, and really do appreciate the awesome craft pieces of our Master Artisans.

I hope to see you all at the Albacete Fair, enjoying the festivities and our pocket knives !!!

If you are a craftsman and wish to participate in the contest, the registration period is already open until August 28th, the pieces must be submitted on August 4th, and the jury´s decision is going to be announced on September 8th.

On September 10th, during the fraternity lunch of the knife makers, the awards ceremony is going to be held.

Tribute to artisan Juan Jose Martinez Garcia from Santa Cruz de Mudela

 

Dear colleagues, lovers and fans of cutlery, just returned from the wonderful village of knife makers of Santa Cruz de Mudela (Ciudad Real – Spain), on 5 August 2015,14: 00 hours, unfortunately, this time has not been a planned visit, but to support the family and friends on the deceased craftsman cutler, Juan Jose Martinez Garcia, at the age of 91 years, founder of Cutlery Martinez of Santa Cruz de Mudela.

Sad news the loss of this great craftsman cutler, from here, a kindly tribute for him and his family with love.

Handcrafted Cutlery Fair & Knife Show 2015 at Albacete (Spain)

We are already preparing the next VI Handcrafted Cutlery Fair & Knife Show 2015 at Albacete (Spain), which will take place on 11th, 12th and 13th of September  2015, event that also being held during Festivals of Albacete (7th to 17th of September), therefore, unique opportunity to enjoy the knives and pocket knives from Albacete, handcraft pieces unique, different sorts of steel, put simply, pure craftsmanship, and incidentally, the awesome festivals of our city.

Fair organized by APRECU (Association of Cutlery and Allied), and sponsored by Fair Institution of Albacete (IFAB), and aimed at collectors, lovers of cutlery, artisans, professionals and the general public.

It is located outside the Municipal Museum of Cutlery Albacete, under a tent of 300m2, admission is free, and the schedule is:

Day 11 and 12, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.. to 9:30 p.m.
Day 13, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

In addition, all visitors can enjoy some activities, including the traditional workshop, “RUN YOUR OWN POCKET KNIFE”, and even artisan German Azote will delight us with a live workshop on “Steel, Forging and Heat Treatments”, amazing!!!.

The registration period has already started, go ahead and sign up !!!.

Coutellia 2015 at Thiers (Francia)

During the 16th and 17th of May will held, in the small town of Thiers (France), the City of Cutlery in France, the 25th edition of the International Exhibition of Arts and Traditional Knife – Coutellia 2015.

At these days, the city of Thiers, becomes world capital of Cutlery, event which will welcomes artisans from 20 countries and 170 exhibitors, all in an area of 1500m2, where, you will also enjoy different demonstrations prepared, especially, for the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Coutellia 2015.

It should be remarked of these ones, forging blade, technique of sharpened, assembling of a knife or pocket knife, exhibition of ancient knives, and even, will be able to visit museums, in this case, worth noting and world benchmark of Cutlery, is the Museum of Cutlery of Thiers (France), mirror on which, our Museum of Cutlery of Albacete (Spain) is looked, and which enjoy wonderful relationships of brotherhood.
